Spring Bird Watching With Ventura Audubon Society April 28th
April 28, 2019 @ 8:00AM — 10:00AM Eastern Time (US & Canada)
A bird watching outing into the beautiful back country of the Ventura Foothills

Dear Bird Watchers,
Please join Rancho Ventura Conservation Trust and Ventura Audubon Society on our inaugural upland habitat bird watching event. Guests will meet our experienced birdwatching guides at the Arroyo Verde Park Trailhead and will hike into the beautiful and scenic back country of the Ventura Foothills. While on the hike, our guides will make an effort to identify and point out the many bird species that may be encountered. The Ventura Foothills are a hot spot for migratory and resident birds. Bird of prey species such as Northern harrier, Red Tailed Hawk, Prairie Falcon and Western Burrowing Owl are known to nest and forage in the area. Other common and recognizable birds that may encountered are California Quail, Acorn Woodpecker and Scrub Jay among many others. Everybody from amateur and veteran bird watchers alike are welcome. The event is free but a donation of $20 is suggested. Donations can be made at the time of registration. All proceeds will go to the Rancho Ventura Thomas Fire Recovery Fund.
We ask all attending to follow the guidelines for the best experience possible.
- 1. Wear muted colors to avoid alarming or disturbing birds.
- 2. Dress according to the weather, layers may be necessary in colder months.
- 3. Wear proper footwear for weather that can be worn in uneven terrain.
- 4. Bringing hats, sunglasses and binoculars are highly recommended.
- 5. Please move and talk quietly.
- 6. Remain behind the hike leaders at all times.
Event location: The event will meet in the very north part of Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura by the ball fields. Guests will park next to the fields and walk up into the Trust to the Northwest via the Arroyo Verde Trailhead.
