We are so excited to get back out hiking on the trails.

We have some modified protocol so please be patient with us as we navigate this process. The main difference will be the sign up process. In order to minimize contact on the day of the hike, the sign up will be online through signup genius. Please click on the link below BEFORE purchasing your ticket in order to ensure your time slot is reserved.

There will be 3 main groups; 9am-11am, 12pm-2pm, 3pm-5pm. In each group there are various time slots to sign up for. The time slot indicates what time you will depart for your hike. The departure times are staggered in order to ensure proper social distancing on the trail. This will be a private, self-guided hike.

*We strongly recommend you wear your mask while in the parking area, however, they are not required to be worn on the trails.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your departure time. You will have a two hour window to hike to Two Trees and enjoy nature along the way. If you have never done this hike before, we are so excited to have you out to share the beauty, tranquility, and fresh air the hillsides provide. Please be sure to read the information below which gives important information about the hike.

EVENT INFO:

Guests will meet at the Entrance to Barlow Canyon off Foothill Road - 3999 Foothill Road. Due to the nature of the terrain the hikes can be considered moderately difficult and out-and-back up and down steep slopes. The distance from Barlow Canyon to Two trees is approximately 1.5 miles with an elevation gain of 716 feet over the course of the hike for an out and back trip of around 3 miles. Average hike times take between an hour to an hour and a half. We ask all attending to:

  • Wear proper attire for the weather on the given day.
  • Apply sunscreen.
  • Wear appropriate footwear. No flip flops please.
  • Pace themselves during the duration of the hike according to their ability.
  • Bring water or a sports drink for hydration.
  • Bring a camera for photo opportunities.
  • No dogs, please.

Guests will get to visit the permanently preserved land in the Ventura Hillsides, take in incredible views overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands and the Cities of Ventura and Oxnard, and the Los Padres National Forest and Topa Topa Mountains to the North and Santa Monica Mountains to the Southeast. Hike leaders will teach the story of the land, History of Two Trees, facts about wildlife and more during the hike. Pre-registry is required to attend the event.

Notes: Hikes will be rescheduled in the event of bad weather including rain or extreme heat. All guests are required to sign waiver of liability at the onset of each outing.

FAQ

1. Do I need to bring my ticket?

No, but you must have selected a time slot on signup genius prior to purchasing ticket.

2. Can I bring small children?

Yes. However, please be aware that the hike is steep and may not be appropriate for those under 8 years old to walk on foot. Terrain is steep and there is little shade.

3. Can I bring dogs?

No. Dogs are not permitted because of potential issues with wildlife, waste and injury due to bites etc. We thank you for your understanding.

4. Will the event be cancelled due to inclement weather?

Yes. The hikes may be cancelled due to extreme rain event, up to 2 or 3 days before the event. Or extreme heat on day of event. Notice will be given in the instance of a cancellation, and your ticket will be refunded.

5. Will there be accommodations for people who may have difficulty hiking to Two Trees?

Future dates will be announced where the Rancho Ventura will provide shuttles to access Two Trees, or hikes with different levels of difficulty.

6. Why are you limiting the hike to small groups?

Due to the COVID-19 we must ensure proper social distancing protocol and the best way for this to be practiced is through small groups.

7. Where do I park?

There will be designated parking areas within the lot at Barlow Canyon.

8. Where can I share my photos?
